v0.6 — Encrypted Cloud Sync · Prompt Marketplace · Daily Brief

Your AI never forgets
who you are.

Rethread captures your preferences, decisions, and context from AI conversations — then brings it all back when you need it. Across six platforms, synced end-to-end encrypted across every device you own.

Works with ChatGPT · Claude · Gemini · Grok · Perplexity · DeepSeek

Every AI conversation is a blank slate.

You told ChatGPT you're a senior React developer who prefers TypeScript and functional components. Next conversation? It asks if you know JavaScript.

You explained your project architecture to Claude in detail. New chat? Start from scratch.

Context that follows you everywhere.

🎯

Passive Capture

Silently observes your conversations and extracts key facts, preferences, and decisions. No manual tagging required.

NEW

Selective Recall

Search, filter, sort and edit memories before injecting context. Live token estimate, summary vs detailed mode, and per-memory feedback (helpful / hide) make every recall sharper than the last.

🔗

Cross-Platform Memory

Context captured in ChatGPT is instantly available in Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, and DeepSeek. Your knowledge graph follows you across six platforms.

NEW
☁️

End-to-End Encrypted Cloud Sync

Sync memories across every device with AES-256-GCM encryption derived from a passphrase only you know. Servers only ever see ciphertext — by design, even we can't read your data.

Prompt Template Marketplace

Browse 117 hand-vetted prompts across coding, writing, research, and productivity. Star, install, or publish your own to the community library.

☀️

Daily Brief

Every morning at 8 AM Rethread builds a structured digest of yesterday — conversations, decisions, open questions, follow-ups, and top topics — surfaced as a banner and (optionally) a system notification.

NEW
💬

Cross-Conversation Quotes

Search across every captured message body, not just structured memories. Inject ranked snippets with conversation context alongside the rest of your recall payload.

NEW
📸

Snapshots & Word-Level Diff

Save immutable copies of any conversation at a point in time. Compare any two snapshots — or a snapshot vs. live — side-by-side with added / removed / modified highlights.

NEW
📋

Bulk Operations

Multi-select memories or conversations, then bulk delete, assign buckets, add or remove tags, move folders, or export Markdown — all in a single sweep.

NEW
⌨️

Global Hotkeys

Alt+Shift+R recalls context on the active page. Alt+Shift+P opens the floating prompt picker. Alt+Shift+L opens the side panel — without leaving your keyboard.

📂

Buckets, Folders & Tags

Group memories and conversations into color-coded buckets, folders, and dynamic tag filters. Combine with time-range search to slice context any way you need it.

🔒

Privacy First

Local-first by default. Cloud sync is opt-in and zero-knowledge — keys derive on-device via PBKDF2 → HKDF → AES-256-GCM. No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking.

Three steps. Zero friction.

01

Chat naturally with any AI

Use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, or DeepSeek as you normally would. Rethread works silently in the background, extracting meaningful context from your conversations.

02

Memories build automatically — and sync, encrypted

Your preferences ("I prefer TypeScript"), decisions ("We chose PostgreSQL"), and facts ("I'm a backend engineer") are captured, tagged, and organized into buckets. Bulk-import past chat history, then turn on optional end-to-end encrypted cloud sync to keep every device in lockstep without leaking a single plaintext byte.

03

Recall and reuse — your way

Hit Alt+Shift+R or click Recall to open Selective Recall — search, sort, edit, and pick exactly the memories you want injected. Wake up to a Daily Brief at 8 AM. Browse 117 community prompts. Snapshot any conversation and diff it later.

Structured, searchable memories.

Not raw chat logs — distilled context.

Fact I'm a backend engineer using Go and PostgreSQL
Preference I prefer functional programming over OOP
Decision We decided to use microservices for the payment system
Context My project uses Next.js 14 with App Router and Tailwind CSS
Preference Always write TypeScript in strict mode with explicit return types
Decision Chose Railway for deployment over AWS for simplicity

Frequently asked questions

What is Rethread?
Rethread is a free, privacy-first Chrome extension that gives AI chatbots persistent memory. It silently captures preferences, decisions, and context from your conversations on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, then injects relevant memories into every new chat so you never have to re-explain yourself. See how it works →
Is Rethread free?
Yes. The free plan is forever-free and supports up to 100 memories, 3 buckets, 3 recall results, the Daily Brief, Selective Recall, snapshots & word-level diff, and the prompt marketplace — all stored locally on your device. Pro ($6.99/month or $49 lifetime) unlocks unlimited memories, end-to-end encrypted cloud sync across devices, prompt publishing, and Markdown / JSON / PDF export. View pricing →
Which AI platforms does Rethread work with?
Rethread works with six AI platforms: ChatGPT (chatgpt.com), Claude (claude.ai), Gemini (gemini.google.com), Grok (grok.com), Perplexity (perplexity.ai), and DeepSeek (chat.deepseek.com). Memories captured in one are instantly recallable in the other five. Read about cross-platform memory →
Where is my data stored?
By default, all memories live locally in your browser's IndexedDB and never leave your device. Pro users can optionally enable end-to-end encrypted cloud sync — encryption keys are derived on-device via PBKDF2 and HKDF from a passphrase only you know, and our Cloudflare R2 backend only ever stores opaque ciphertext. Read the encryption deep dive →
How is Rethread different from ChatGPT's built-in Memory?
ChatGPT's built-in Memory is locked to ChatGPT, has an opaque server-side cap that silently fills, and stores memories as unstructured natural language with no folders or tags. Rethread is cross-platform (works on six AIs), structured (Facts, Preferences, Decisions, Context with buckets and tags), selective (you choose which memories to inject per conversation), portable (export to Markdown, JSON, or PDF), and private (local-first with optional zero-knowledge cloud sync). Why ChatGPT forgets →
Does Rethread work on Edge, Brave, Arc, or other Chromium browsers?
Yes. Rethread is a Chromium-based extension and runs on Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, and any other Chromium browser. Firefox and Safari support is on the roadmap. Support & FAQ →
